Extensive ground based measurements of the structural and spectral
properties have been performed at three forest stands near
Järvselja, Estonia. This dataset is complemented by high resolution
airborne measurements and multi-view hyperspectral CHRIS data.
Three 100x100 m sample plots were selected for the detailed study:
-
a 124 year old Pinus sylvestris stand
-
a 59 year old Picea abies stand
-
a 49 year old Betula pendula stand
Structure measurements were carried out in summer 2007 (ground measurements)
and in summer 2009 (airborne laser scanner measurements), optical
measurements in July 2006, August 2007 and July 2008, and a
successful CHRIS/PROBA acquisition over the test site was on 10 July 2005.
The data set includes:
-
tree positions, stem and crown dimensions, foliage mass and LAI
estimates, vertical profiles of lidar first return height
-
leaf, needle, stem bark and branch bark VNIR reflectance spectra
-
leaf VNIR transmittance spectra
-
VNIR reflectance spectra of ground vegetation
-
top of canopy VNIR spectra of nadir reflectance
-
atmospherically corrected Mode 3 CHRIS directional reflectance spectra
for three view directions
